Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, has decided to extend the deadline for filing real estate tax returns until the end of December 2026, allowing taxpayers to benefit from the new facilitations and incentives.
He also extended, by six months until April 2, 2027, the deadline for submitting applications to settle tax disputes and benefit from the waiver of “late payment charges.” The decision comes in swift response to requests from experts, media professionals and citizens.
Kouchouk said that citizens have responded positively, registering more than 2 million real estate units via the mobile app within 100 days. He added that 1.5 million citizens have created online accounts on the app, while 1.2 million tax returns have been received, saying: “Thank you all for your engagement and trust.”
The Minister added that every effort will be made to further develop the mobile app and simplify procedures to provide outstanding services to our partners.
He noted that work will begin immediately to upgrade the system and enhance its capacity to accommodate the large number of citizens seeking to register and benefit from the facilitations. Technical support staff will also be significantly increased to assist citizens and remove any obstacles they may face.
Kouchouk added that feedback, suggestions and comments received from citizens and raised in the media and on social media platforms will be incorporated into the ongoing development process.
Ramy Youssef, Assistant Minister for Tax Policies, said that extensive meetings are being held with representatives of the business community to explain the “Real Estate Tax Facilitation Package.”
He added that communication channels and technical support teams are available to enhance service efficiency and provide further facilitations, noting that service improvements and assistance provided to citizens will be followed up on a daily basis.
Youssef explained that the six-month extension for submitting tax dispute settlement applications applies to existing disputes between taxpayers and the Real Estate Tax Authority that are registered with or pending before courts of all levels, regardless of the stage reached by the case or appeal. It also applies to tax disputes registered with or pending before tax appeal committees at any stage of the dispute.
