Bureau of Egyptian Tax Authority Chairman : No increase in tax rates, food staples to be kept untouched, ongoing support to taxpayers and investment.
Steady steps toward enhancing confidence and providing facilities for taxpayers
Boosting national economy and protecting underprivileged segments are top priorities to the state
Tax Authority: We adopt firm policies to support economy as well as to protect citizens
The Egyptian Tax Authority affirmed complete commitment to enhance stability of tax policy, aiming at supporting the state efforts to attract more investments and stimulate economic growth, taking into consideration the interests of taxpayers and protection of underprivileged segments. In the same context, the Egyptian Tax Authority denied what was circulated in some media channels about raising the general rate of value added tax or cancelling the exemptions granted for food staples, as such will be kept untouched in view of their direct impact on citizens' lives.
The Tax Authority highlighted its deliberated steady steps toward strengthening confidence and transparency with business community, by applying a diverse range of tax facilities that aim at reaching the highest levels of tax stability and providing real benefits for taxpayers, which will contribute to creating an attractive investment climate and encouraging more investments to join formal economy.
The Tax Authority also affirmed that supporting national economy represents a top priority to the state, which focuses on achieving sustainable economic and social development as well as providing a strong social protection network. This commitment is proven by the apparent stability of the present tax policy, and the absence of any tendency to impose a new increase in tax rates, either on the level of income tax or the general rates of value added tax.
The Egyptian Tax Authority renewed its call upon all media channels to seek accuracy and to check the official sources of information before publishing or circulating any information about tax policies, and this is for the sake of stability of investment climate, which by turn would reassure citizens and public opinion.
