Chairman of the Customs Authority, Galal Abul Fotouh updated the car dealers division on the implementation of a new port system to expedite cargo procedures in a record two hours through the setting up of computerized service centers in the ports of Alexandria, Suez, Cairo and Damietta. Abul Fotouh confirmed that the new system aims at the eradication of red tape on imports. He explained that customs employees have been trained to use databases on computers and streamline procedures for importers and investors. In an audience with members of the car dealers division at the Chambers Federation headed by Hassan Soliman, Abul Fotouh said that a new import center inaugurated a few months ago aimed at facilitating the discharge of cargo. He added that the customs department had changed its old taxation idea into a more flexible and modernized version that allowed quick and calculated decisions to be made and which aimed at attracting investments, balancing the collection of tariffs and the ironing out of redtape to absorb investments into the country.
