 The economic advisor to the Minister of Finance: Communique to the Attorney-General against a news sites published an interpolated letter about Orascom dispute with Tax Authority. The economic advisor to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Abdallah Shehata announced the approval of the Minister of Finance to take all legal procedures against  “Alshahad”, an electronic newspaper site, which has published an interpolated letter attributed to the Minister of Finance addressed to Prime Minister, includes absolutely incorrect information about the Egyptian Tax Authority’s dispute with Orascom Company. He said that the Minister of Finance had already submitted a communique to the Attorney-General against the news site. Noting that the letter contains many spelling errors, misinformation, even errors in the mentioned names in the letter and putting eagle seal next to the  Minister’s signature, which does not occur in official letters. Dr. Shehata confirmed that the tax authority’s dispute with Orascom is just a dispute with a company and not a personal one with investors, and he assured that the government is keen to support private sector institutions, therefore we enter into direct negotiations with the company before taking any legal procedures, we did so in order not to lose time, as the law allows for tax authority to review any tax return within five years of submission, and if not, tax will be outdated and lapsed. Dr. Shehata assured that the Ministry of Finance still wants to amicably settle the dispute and reconcile with the company and support economic institutions, the national economy pillars.
