Driver who Spared Al-Haram Area a Disaster Deserves Recognition New Truck May Be Exempted from Customs Duties Ministry Stresses Spirit of Law Driving his truck loaded with fuel in flames away from a service station in Al-Haram district, for more than one kilometer, driver Ramadan Mohammed Omar carried out an act of bravery which deserves appreciation, said Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali, the Minister of Finance. The driver saved the entire area from an imminent disaster that could have happened had he left the truck on fire inside the station, but he risked his own life moving it away from the residential area. The truck was wholly destroyed by fire; Ramadan was able to jump out in the last moment, explained the minister. If the truck was not insured, the minister would exempt a new truck from customs duties to replace the completely burnt car. Meanwhile, it is necessary to await the prosecution investigations outcome to determine who is responsible for this accident, he announced. While the Ministry of Finance strictly abides by the laws and regulations, it certainly emphasizes the spirit of the law in cases which deserve special recognition, the Minister added.
