Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, Governor of Egypt at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, participated in his first meeting with the Bank's Board of Governors in Uzbekistan, and presented Egypt's vision to support the Asian Bank's strategy to serve member countries, as one of the most important global financing banks that can play an influential role in working to provide a greater volume of financing to push development investments for emerging economies.
The Minister pointed out the need to mobilize more sources of funding from the private sector to invest in developing countries and push development efforts, which contributes to increasing domestic production, enhancing export growth rates, and deepening their participation in international markets, pointing out that we hope that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be “part of the solution and support" in global financial crises, through continuous work on finding innovative solutions that are more sustainable and appropriate to current challenges, and benefit emerging economies and increase their ability to deal positively and flexibly with difficult repercussions.
The Minister explained the importance of diversifying the financing tools available to the member countries of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, especially expanding the issuance of guarantees and providing financing in local currencies.
The Minister said that the cross-border economic challenges force us to combine all efforts to build cross-border partnerships as well, starting from common priorities towards expanding the scope and size of infrastructure projects, in order to contribute effectively to achieving the goals of the Asian Bank and turning them into executable programs on the ground, leading to an inclusive and sustainable "Afro-Asian" development for all.
