Working with Investors to Facilitate Trade and Reduce Import/Export Costs

Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening engagement with importers, customs brokers, and air freight agents regarding the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system, which will become mandatory on 1 January. He noted that this step represents a new milestone in extending the bridges of a “Trust Partnership” with the business community, adding that the ministry is working closely with its investor partners to facilitate trade flows and reduce the costs of importing and exporting.

Kouchouk instructed the rapid response to all inquiries related to the air cargo ACI system, while expanding media outreach through all available channels to clarify the mechanisms and advantages of this new platform. He stressed the importance of ensuring continuous technical support for users of the ACI system at airports during both the pilot and mandatory phases.

Customs Authority Chairman Ahmed Amawi stated that the authority is holding regular meetings with business organizations to explain the ACI system for airports. He added that comprehensive guidelines have been prepared to clarify all aspects of this advanced system, in order to further support and streamline procedures for importers.
