Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk discussed with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Zou Jiayi ways to strengthen the partnership in support of Egypt’s development and investment priorities and expand cooperation on sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure projects
During the meeting, Kouchouk said Egypt was looking forward to a stronger and more impactful partnership with the AIIB, noting that the country’s strategic location positions it to play a pivotal role in strengthening economic and investment connectivity between Asia and Africa.
The Finance Minister said Egypt was seeking to broaden cooperation with the bank on sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure projects, further strengthening the partnership between the two sides in priority areas.
Kouchouk stressed the importance of diversifying financing sources and instruments to support development efforts and reduce their costs, saying Egypt was looking to more innovative financing mechanisms to help stimulate private investment in priority sectors.
He said deepening partnerships with international institutions was an important avenue for mobilizing more concessional financing and funding that can catalyze private-sector investment, supporting development and investment efforts.
The Finance Minister also highlighted promising opportunities to expand cooperation with the AIIB in green transition as well as regional connectivity and transport projects.
