Finance Minister: Egyptian Economy Continues to Improve, with Ongoing Efforts to Boost Production, Exports and Investment
Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, affirmed that the Egyptian economy is moving in the right direction, supported by continued efforts to enhance production and exports and drive growth and development. He noted the growing interest among international investors in following Egypt’s economic developments and investment opportunities.
His remarks came during an open dialogue with investors at three meetings organized by Jefferies, JPMorgan and HSBC on the sidelines of his visit to London, where he reviewed recent economic developments and the government's ongoing reforms aimed at improving the investment climate.
Kouchouk said he was very pleased with the increasing interest shown by investors in Egypt’s economic progress, stressing that the government is working diligently to ensure that Egypt remains a stable and attractive investment destination for both domestic and foreign private-sector investors.
He highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages, including its strategic geographic location, advanced infrastructure, large and growing market, and a young workforce capable of innovation and productivity.
The Finance Minister noted that confidence among investors in the Egyptian market continues to improve, encouraging the government to press ahead with its economic reform agenda and build on the gains already achieved.
He added that economic indicators for the first nine months of the current fiscal year provide a realistic picture of the continued improvement in economic activity, emphasizing that the government is working to increase private-sector participation across economic activities through a more efficient and enabling business environment.
Kouchouk further explained that the ongoing tax, customs and real estate reforms are designed to simplify procedures and ease the burden on the business community, while complementing the country’s investment incentive framework.
He also noted that the government is pursuing the diversification of financing instruments, markets and funding sources, while targeting a continued downward trajectory for budget-sector debt.
The Minister added that Egypt is seeking to expand debt-for-investment swap programs across various sectors, particularly in human development, through innovative financing models that support sustainable development objectives and promote long-term investment.
