Finance Minister: New Budget Aims to Build a More Resilient, Balanced Economy Responsive to Citizens and Investors
Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk affirmed that Egypt’s new FY2026/2027 budget is designed to build a more resilient and balanced economy capable of sustaining robust growth while responding more effectively to the needs of both citizens and investors.
Kouchouk stated that the new budget allocates EGP 90 billion to expand programs supporting production, merchandise and service exports, and entrepreneurship activities, reflecting the government's commitment to strengthening the productive sectors and enhancing Egypt’s competitiveness.
The minister noted that EGP 48 billion has been earmarked for export rebate programs, while nearly EGP 7 billion has been allocated to support the tourism sector, one of the key contributors to economic growth and foreign currency earnings.
He added that EGP 6 billion has been designated for financing facilities targeting productive sectors to boost Egypt’s industrial and agricultural capacities. The budget also provides EGP 5 billion to support small business activities and entrepreneurship initiatives.
In addition, approximately EGP 5 billion has been allocated to support the automotive industry, alongside EGP 2 billion dedicated to incentivizing priority industries, as part of broader efforts to deepen local manufacturing, enhance value-added production, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
Kouchouk emphasized that these allocations reflect the government's strategy to empower productive sectors, encourage private-sector-led growth, create more job opportunities, and strengthen the foundations of a competitive and diversified economy.
