•    37 companies voluntarily joined the e-system.

•    Taxpayers registered at the Large Taxpayer Center have next May 15th  as a deadline to join the e-invoice system.

Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, stressed that Egypt, headed by its sound political leadership, is proceeding significantly in implementing the national project for upgrading and automating the tax administration system.
These efforts aim at facilitating measures for taxpayers, maintaining State’s rights in collecting proceeds to raise citizens’ standard of living and improve public services. Both the automated tax and e-invoice systems are important projects that will help in developing an accurate tax base, achieving tax justice, limiting tax evasion, integrating informal economy in formal economic system in a way that can create an advanced tax administration system similar to that in developed countries, noted Dr. Maait.

Dr. Maait expressed his thanks to all companies which joined the e-invoice system in its 1st and 2nd phases, which were operationally launched on 15 November 2020 and 15 February 2021, respectively. Almost 400 companies completed integration process in the new e-system over its 2 phases, he added.

Electronic documents (namely, invoices- credit/debtors notices) that were processed in the e-invoice system reached 1,250,000 documents, noted Dr. Maait, adding that 400 companies uploaded their electronic documents on the actual operational platform of the system in its two phases
Dr. Maait underlined that 15 May 2021 shall be the deadline for all taxpayers registered at the Large Taxpayer Central to join the e-invoice system.

Minister of Finance called on all companies registered at the Large Taxpayer Central to promptly join the e-invoice system, stressing that the Ministry of Finance and the Egyptian Tax Authority provide all the facilities and support for the mandatory joining of the electronic invoice system. Required procedures are carried out through the technical support office at the Large Taxpayers Center, or field visits, or accessed through the Integrated Communication Center on the number 16395 or through eInvoice@eta.gov .eg.

The new e-invoice system aims to establish a central system that enables the Egyptian Tax Authority to monitor all commercial transactions executed among companies, through instantly exchanging data for all invoices in a digital form.
This shall help in embarking on the digital transformation of all transactions, installing the latest technological methods, verifying data of the invoices’ issuers, recipients and contents, eliminating parallel markets and informal economy, achieving equal opportunities among companies in the Egyptian market, and facilitating and accelerating tax procedures, noted Dr. Maait.
