Head of the Customs Authority Galal Abul Fetouh has stated that the changes to the Egyptian Customs over the past two years reflect the serious efforts to develop customs procedures. Work however is still underway to implement the unified outlets which have proved successful in simplifying measures undertaken by customs. Electronic data exchanges among working parties have facilitated the release of goods from harbors. For the first time customs attaches have been appointed in embassies abroad to offer facilities to investors. Mr. Abul Fetouh has noted the drop in disputes from 30% to less than one in a thousand as reflected in the drop in product prices and to coincide with the reduction of time needed for the release of imported goods through customs.
