Ahmed Amawi, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, affirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with both domestic and international private sectors and fostering strategic partnerships with friendly nations to build a more competitive and attractive investment climate. He stressed that supporting investors and removing obstacles remain top priorities through the adoption of a modern, flexible, and transparent customs system aligned with the latest international standards.
Speaking during an open dialogue with representatives of Swiss companies operating in Egypt, hosted by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Amawi noted that the authority is continuing to simplify procedures and expand digital transformation, aiming to fully implement governance mechanisms across all customs operations. These efforts, he explained, are designed to reduce customs clearance time, stimulate exports, and streamline the movement of goods across Egypt’s ports and customs outlets, in line with the state’s automation and institutional development strategy.
Amawi emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas and perspectives with the Swiss business community to jointly address challenges and enhance the quality of services provided to investors, thereby contributing to the steady inflow of foreign direct investment into the Egyptian market.
He further underlined that the Customs Authority is providing every possible facilitation to promote trade flows and strengthen cooperation with international partners, fully consistent with the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030 toward a more sustainable and inclusive economy.
