Head of the Tax Department Mahmoud Mohamed Aly has reiterated that the new authority will be transformed from the old notion of being a taxation department into a service apparatus that will facilitate the payment process among taxpayers and protect the latter from committing legal errors.  The new apparatus will be helping to educate the taxpayers on the tax process and will become a partner to investors and businessmen in introducing a scientific process in the collection of taxes.  The statements were made during a meeting with investors at the 10th Ramadan City.  The  new entity will restructure the departments so that similar units will merge under one heading or department  to give rise to auditors, research and legal affairs and simultaneously create a working environment for tax officers, filing and the division of taxpayers into three main brackets for large, middle and small taxpayers. Court orders in tax suits will be applicable on capital assets for the benefit of taxpayers or the authority and in the case of controversies, certain principles will be applicable.  A sistership agreement is currently being drawn between 10th Ramadan City investors and the Tax Authority for a friendly conclusion to tax issues.
