Public Treasury Department has made 1.5 billion pounds available to the Ministry of Social Solidarity to disburse "additional support" to the beneficiaries of "Takaful and Karama"

Increasing cash support to beneficiaries of "Takaful and Karama" program by 25% as of April 2025 at a total cost of about 13 billion pounds until June 2026

In the social protection package, we focused on the lowest-income groups to improve their conditions with direct cash support

 

 

Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, reviewed and presented the executive position of the urgent exceptional measures within the social protection package targeting the most vulnerable segments during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, in implementation of presidential mandates, to improve the living conditions of the lowest-income groups with direct cash support.

 

In a joint statement, the Ministers of Finance and Social Solidarity assured that 4.7 million families benefiting from the "Takaful and Karama" program spent 300 pounds of additional support during the month of Ramadan for each family at a total cost of 1.5 billion pounds, provided by the "Public Treasury" for the Ministry of Social Solidarity to disburse this "additional support" to these beneficiaries, in implementation of presidential mandates.

 

The two ministers added that the value of cash support to the beneficiaries of the "Takaful and Karama" program will be increased by 25% from April 2025 at a total cost of about 13 billion pounds until June 2026.

 

The conditional cash support program "Takaful and Karama" began in 2014 with 1.7 million beneficiary families at a cost of 3.5 billion pounds, and witnessed a significant development in implementation of the presidential directives to take care of impoverished families.

 

It is worth mentioning that the "Takaful and Karama" program has been evaluated as one of the best social protection programs in the Arab world, and the Ministry of Social Solidarity will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its launch next May.

 

This program is characterized by flexibility, as it allows the inclusion of new families, and the exclusion of others in light of the availability of the prescribed conditions.
