Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk affirmed that the Ministry has, over the past years, succeeded in “building a generation of competent professionals” across its sectors and affiliated entities—individuals who strongly believe in the importance of developing human capabilities. He added: “I am deeply proud that my colleagues and I—senior leaders at the Ministry of Finance—are among the fruits of the State’s investment in young leadership.”
This came during an open dialogue between the Minister and graduates of the Ministry’s human-capital development and capacity-building programmes, where he stressed that the next phase will place top priority on investing in people, through innovative programmes, initiatives, and ideas.
He pointed to the Ministry’s strong and renewed focus on training, qualification, and improving staff conditions, while ensuring continuous performance development to better serve the economy and citizens.
Addressing outstanding employees across all job grades, Kouchouk said: “You are a leader in your position… and you have a real opportunity to enhance and raise the efficiency of work and services.” He stressed that the Ministry operates based on a clear principle: “We work for the people… and our role is to improve their lives as much as possible.”
The Minister added that building a positive public image of the Ministry of Finance requires extending full support to all budget entities so they can effectively perform their roles in serving citizens.
Kouchouk also highlighted the success of the tax facilitation initiative, which he described as a strong model of the “positive change we aspire to for the benefit of the business community and the Egyptian economy.” He noted that 400,000 taxpayers voluntarily closed old tax files, while 650,000 submitted new or amended returns, generating EGP 78 billion in additional tax revenues, with a total business volume approaching one trillion pounds.
He concluded by emphasizing that the Ministry of Finance is preparing a new package of tax facilitations designed to support the business community and deepen the principles of partnership with them, in a way that enhances trust and improves the economic environment.
