Kouchouk in Meeting with MENA Ministers of Finance in Washington: Emerging Markets, Developing Economies Hardest Hit by Current Regional Challenges
Kouchouk said rising energy prices and disruptions to supply chains represent the most significant global challenges at present.
Emerging markets and developing economies are the most affected by ongoing regional challenges, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said during a meeting with finance ministers from the Middle East and North Africa on the sidelines of the IMF–World Bank meetings in Washington.
Kouchouk said rising energy prices and disruptions to supply chains represent the most significant global challenges at present.
He added that Egypt’s economy, supported by proactive and well-coordinated policies, has demonstrated resilience in absorbing external shocks, noting that the government is pursuing balanced policies that support growth while protecting the most vulnerable groups.
The minister also stressed the need to accelerate the transition toward a green economy and renewable energy amid prevailing global uncertainty. He noted that Egypt’s economic growth indicators and primary surplus remain positive, while debt and overall deficit ratios relative to GDP are on a downward trend.
