Following Attorney General's Directives Special Pension to Be Paid to Revolution Martyrs' Families upon Presenting Death Certificates LE 50 Thousands to Heirs In Case Direct Beneficiaries Are not Found The Attorney General gave a number of directives to regulate the issuance of death certificates for the martyrs of the 25th of January Revolution, in preparation for the commencement of special pension payment to the martyrs' families under the Prime Minister's Decree No. 33/2011, a Ministry of Finance official declared. The directives come in view of the difficulty to determine the exact numbers of the deceased and injured in the revolution because some families have buried their deceased without recourse to the Public Prosecution, while some of the injured refused to report their injuries in the events. The Ministry of Finance called upon all martyrs' families to rapidly get hold of these certificates from the Public Prosecution in order to proceed with the special pension procedures; according to a Prime Minister's decree which offers a sum of LE 1500 to every martyr's family, be added to any other pension or income, without limits. In case no beneficiary is available, the legitimate heirs will receive LE 50,000 in accordance with the Social Insurance law. The Ministry of Finance has been notified of the conditions of issuance of the death certificates. Only those who are directly related may apply to the Public Prosecution, with proof that the death occurred as a result of injury during the demonstrations, the ministry stressed. Moreover, this certificate must be consistent with the investigations conducted by the Public Prosecutor in this regard, using a form specially prepared for this purpose, which may be obtained upon the request of one of the heirs of the deceased. The certificate will be issued to the applicant who has to submit it to the General Administration of Special Pensions (Address: 3 Alfy St., Cairo). The special pension can be paid after checking the deceased death certificate and Inheritance Certificate, which identifies the applicant as one of the lawful heirs. The directives also stipulate that the certificate be issued by the concerned investigative secretary, under the supervision of the Head of the Criminal Investigations Department and in line with the relevant written and administrative rules, the official explained. The case file will be marked on the delivery of the certificate to the applicant after verification of his identity and right to request the certificate, when he signs a receipt. A book will be kept by first-instance prosecutions to register the data of the issued certificates and their holders for contact purposes whenever necessary, he noted. The directives obligate public prosecutors to monitor the staff responsible for issuing these certificates, and to approve them only when they have verified conformity with investigations, and double-checked the applicant's data and capacity.
