Minister of Finance Highlights Egypt’s Economic Performance and National Priorities During Visit to Nile University

Egypt’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, highlighted the country’s advancing economic performance and future national priorities during an official visit to Nile University, where he delivered a keynote address at a symposium titled “Entrepreneurship: Towards a More Supportive and Empowering Environment.” The visit comes as part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to engage with youth, broaden economic awareness, and strengthen cooperation with academic institutions.

In his address, Minister Kouchouk affirmed that Egypt has entered a decisive phase of economic transformation—one that demands discipline, integrity, and strong institutional governance.

He underscored that public service is a national duty grounded in professionalism and accountability, emphasizing that the effectiveness of institutions is driven by the values upheld by their leaders and employees.

The Minister outlined notable improvements in Egypt’s economic indicators over the past year. These included a significant reduction in the primary deficit and enhanced debt ratios, reflecting the impact of ongoing structural reforms and more disciplined fiscal management. He announced that private investment—described as the cornerstone of sustainable economic growth—rose by 73% last year. This momentum, he said, signals a renewed growth trajectory that is creating new job opportunities and strengthening overall economic performance.

Minister Kouchouk highlighted the accelerating role of digital transformation in governance, affirming that progress is no longer possible without embracing artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and modern digital systems. He noted that the Ministry of Finance is increasingly adopting mobile applications to improve service delivery and expand citizen and business access.

During an engaging discussion session, students welcomed the Minister and posed questions spanning a wide array of topics, including the state budget, public debt sustainability, entrepreneurship, economic growth prospects, and digital transformation.

Minister Kouchouk commended their high level of awareness and stressed the importance of youth participation in shaping Egypt’s economic priorities.

As part of the visit, the Minister also toured Nile University’s three developmental phases, reviewing completed achievements, ongoing projects, and planned expansions. He praised the university’s capabilities and its expanding role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Minister Kouchouk concluded by outlining four national priorities that will guide Egypt’s economic trajectory in the coming period:

Strengthening cooperation with the business community;

Maintaining disciplined and balanced public finances;

Enhancing the efficiency of public spending and service delivery;

Expanding investment in human capital—particularly in education and health—while further empowering the private sector’s role in national development.

Dr. Essam Roshdy, Acting President of Nile University, welcomed the Minister and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to advancing national development through research, innovation, and entrepreneurship programs.

The visit concluded with an open discussion, during which students directed a series of  challenging questions. Their inquiries covered a wide spectrum of topics, including the state budget, public debt, economic growth prospects, entrepreneurship, taxation reforms, and the government’s digital transformation agenda. Minister Kouchouk welcomed the dialogue, responding in detail to the students’ questions and encouraging them to remain engaged, informed, and active contributors to Egypt’s economic future.
