We Will Keep Simplifying and Automating Customs Procedures in More Inclusive and Integrated Framework with "Control Bodies"

Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, affirmed that the ministry seeks to shorten the time and cost of customs release to alleviate the burdens of production as well as to stimulate investment and export, pointing out that the ministry will keep working on simplifying and automating customs procedures within a more inclusive and integrated framework with the "control bodies."

 

"We are racing with time, together with different ministries and concerned bodies, to facilitate procedures and alleviate administrative burdens in favor of investors" said Kouchouk, in a field visit to Alexandria and  El Dekheila Ports, accompanied by Vice Minister of Finance for Tax Policies, Sherif Elkilany, and the Head of Customs Authority, Ahmed Amawi. "We have an open dialogue with our colleagues in Customs Authority to get familiar with the challenges faced on site," added Kouchouk.

 

Kouchouk pointed out that the Ministry of Finance saves no effort to accelerate the joint work to complete the e-connection between "Customs Authority" and "Control Bodies", clarifying that the joint inspection committees will play a more vital role to ensure governance, shorten customs release time, and to cut the cost as well.

 

Kouchouk affirmed that the "Customs Facilitations Package" will be a very important phase toward building confidence, partnership and support to business community. He also highlighted his eagerness to find more practical and resilient ways to handle any customs challenges to push forward the foreign trade.

 

Kouchouk stated that the ministry pays a special attention to raising the efficiency of human resources aiming at taking customs services to new heights and to meet the expectations of business community.

 

Finance Minister's tour covered the logistic centers, "Tahya Misr" station and the committees of join inspection of risky substances at "Alexandria Containers and Cargo Handling" and "SESCO TRANS" companies.
