Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk affirmed that the economic and financial situation is improving and that public finances are being managed with strong balance to drive growth while preserving fiscal discipline.

 

He noted that priority is given to expanding the tax base in order to further stimulate the business community and increase spending on human development.

 

Speaking during an open dialogue with the Free Professions Accounting and Auditing Division at the Commercial Syndicate, Kouchouk said that everything being implemented within the facilitation track originates from the tax community and that challenges are well understood and will be addressed with full seriousness.

 

He stressed that there is a realistic vision of tax challenges and that work is underway to overcome them through flexible incentive based and advanced solutions for taxpayer partners.

 

The Minister added that there is strong commitment to implementing each facilitation package on the ground before moving to the next package in order to firmly establish a trust based partnership.

 

He emphasized firm conviction in the necessity for taxpayers to receive the best possible tax services and to achieve solid developmental returns across all aspects of life.

 

He clarified that the targeted reforms are those that suit national priorities and needs and reflect what is appropriate for the country.

 

The Minister stated that a new phase of cooperation will begin together and that the Free Professions Accounting and Auditing Division with its expertise is more capable of explaining monitoring and evaluating tax facilitation measures.

 

He pointed out readiness to provide full support to the Division in return for services that serve the interests of the tax community.

 

He concluded by affirming that all proposals and recommendations are receiving attention and study and will be gradually utilized in shaping a sustainable path for tax reform.
