Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, affirmed that Egypt’s youth are the future, urging them to invest in building their capabilities and developing their skills to become influential and secure better career prospects.
In an open message to Egypt’s youth, the Minister said: “Work with passion to achieve your dreams—the return will be far greater than you expect.”
During an interactive session with university students and recent graduates titled “Opportunity Economy and Youth Empowerment,” held as part of the Egyptian Women’s Summit hosted by Nile University, Kouchouk stated: “We stand with young people because they are the owners of the future, and we will strongly support their ideas, activities, initiatives, and projects.”
He added that the government aims to approve a comprehensive strategy to engage youth and establish an ongoing dialogue with them in a language they understand.
The Minister stressed that “public service and serving people is a great honor,” noting that Egypt’s economy is progressing well, indicators are improving, and efforts are underway to preserve and reinforce this positive momentum. He highlighted plans to increase resources, diversify income sources, and prioritize manufacturing and export promotion.
Kouchouk confirmed that balanced fiscal policies have energized the economy and boosted private investment growth by 73%. He emphasized the government’s commitment to driving economic activity by supporting the business community within a framework of trust and partnership, noting strong growth across productive, industrial, technological, and tourism sectors during the past fiscal year.
He explained that the debt-to-GDP ratio of budgetary entities declined by 11% over two years, with a target to reduce it to below 80% of GDP this year. He also noted a USD 4 billion reduction in external debt for budgetary entities, with continued progress expected.
Kouchouk pointed out that the bet on the flexibility and vitality of the private sector “proved right,” as tax facilitation measures succeeded thanks to the trust and responsiveness of partners. He added: “The more we broaden the tax base, the greater the fiscal space we will have to improve services for taxpayers and citizens.”
He noted that tax revenues increased by 35% without any additional burdens, driven by economic improvement and facilitation for the business community. He added that the simplified tax system is more supportive and incentivizing for young entrepreneurs, startups, and professionals, with concessional financing incentives available for the first 100,000 who voluntarily join the simplified tax system.
Dina Abdel Fattah, media professional and Founder and Chair of the “Top 50 Most Influential Women” Forum, said that the Ministry of Finance’s support and sponsorship of the Egyptian Women’s Summit—attended by more than 5,000 students from 28 Egyptian and international universities—and the Minister’s participation in an interactive session with students and recent graduates had a significant impact on strengthening youth confidence in Egypt’s investment climate and encouraging entrepreneurship.
She noted that the Minister delivered a reassuring message reflecting the strength of Egypt’s economic system and the diversity of investment opportunities, and provided a comprehensive overview of state incentives encouraging youth innovation and the launch of technology-driven ventures across productive, service, and technology sectors.
She added that the fourth edition of the Egyptian Women’s Summit featured expanded ministerial sessions and specialized interactive panel discussions with ambassadors, representatives of international institutions, heads of financial institutions, private companies, and entrepreneurs to promote youth entrepreneurship.
The summit also included a large job fair and interactive workshops, with dedicated spaces for final-year students and recent graduates to connect directly with institutions and companies across sectors, enhancing training and employment opportunities.
