" Ministry of Finance: Talk of Launching a New Social Protection Package Is Premature"

The Ministry of Finance has denied recent media reports suggesting that a new social protection package is set to be launched, clarifying that the statements attributed to the Minister of Finance are inaccurate and require further clarification.

The ministry emphasized that discussing the launch of a new social protection package—similar to the one implemented during last Ramadan—is premature. It explained that the Minister did not announce any such initiative during his remarks at the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council conference, but rather stressed the importance of adhering to the same methodology adopted last year.

The Minister clarified that whenever strong financial performance is achieved and fiscal targets are met, it creates greater fiscal space to allocate additional resources toward human development and more targeted social protection programs aimed at the most vulnerable segments of society.

He added that the positive preliminary results of the past fiscal year support this approach, noting that, as was the case during last Ramadan, any future support packages will be designed to directly benefit those in greatest need.
