Head of the Customs Authority Galal Abul Fotouh dismissed any amendments to the customs tariffs on cars and said there have been  rumors which have caused  confusion in the market. Abul Fotouh explained that amendments must be based on research which is undertaken by the customs authority and reviewed by the Minister of Finance. Abul Fotouh however added that the Authority is considering amending tariffs on 1600 cc cars but that will not be reviewed by the Minister of Finance until the beginning of next year.  (source: Al-Gomhuriya)
