The Egyptian Tax Authority has undertaken preparations for circulation of special income tax returns at the start of the next year. Head of the Tax Authority Mahmoud Mohamed Aly has added that a significant number of tax returns samples have been printed and circulated among tax districts in accordance with the number of taxpayers. Districts have already taken measures by posting guiding posters to streamline the working process. The Authority has so far received approximately 20,000 requests for reconciliation with the tax authority with disputed amounts in excess of 10,000 pounds per taxpayer. So far, over 27% for reconciliation have been completed and measures are undertaken to streamline the rest of the documents. Other steps are currently underway to list tax arrears in order to fill out missing treasury files, in addition to owned or rented real estates for the tax and sales authorities through a technical committee in preparation for the setting up of a unified tax authority. The current buildings will be used along with new headquarters to be bought where necessary. (source: Al-Akhbar)
