Head of the customs authority Galal Abul Fotouh has affirmed that customs reform is an important element in current economic reforms. He said that tax disputes have dropped to 1% from 28% in the wake of an upheaval in the ideology of taxation and the new perception of the tax department as a partner in economic development. Mr. Aboul Fetouh has made his comments in a meeting with the chamber for industrial engineering, adding that the customs authority has in the past been a major obstacle to investments but its position has dropped to eighth place in the wake of recent reforms.
