Head of the customs authority Galal Abul Fotouh said in a meeting with members of the American Chamber of commerce that e-payment has been implemented and that goods may be released from ports in a matter of hours in cases which have filed requests for expeditious releases where usually four days are usually the average time needed for the release of goods in customs. He said the Authority welcomes complaints following changes that have rendered customs more customer friendly. Mr. Abul Fotouh urged transparency and said that factories have voiced their commitment in that respect. He said a credit facility has been opened for 45 million dollars. A device which is known as a phantom car will also be introduced in two months to be used in revealing contents within containers. The phantom car tours the port on a daily basis and has proved useful for the customs and commercial activities. (source: Al-Aalam El youm)
