Head of the tax authority has issued an order for the immediate return of sales tax on purchases by embassies and diplomatic missions for foreign dignitaries in Egypt, including sales taxes that has been pending on diplomats, consulates within 24 hours instead of the earlier 15 days. Mr. Aly announced the implementation of the immediate return is part of a tit for tat principle and is part of the effort by the tax authority to streamline difficulties. Mr. Aly noted that the streamlining of the work process is part of a bundle of directives issued by the authority to streamline tax dealings. The requested documents from the missions or embassies for the return of the sales tax includes a request for the return of tax attached to an embassy document that vows to return any excess amount that has been spent by mistake in addition to a receipt confirming payment of amount..‏ Once the documentation has been verified the amounts are to be returned within one day.
