-
The Ministry of Finance has prepared and finalized the 2014/2015 “Citizen’s Budget.” The publication highlights the main aspects of the country’s budget law in a more simplified way, educating the ordinary citizen about his/her country’s budget. Moreover, the Citizen’s Budget will engage the average citizen in the decision making process and in determining future fiscal policy priorities.
The Citizen’s Budget underlines the government’s increased public expenditure on education and health by 12.9 percent reaching (LE 94.4 billion), and by 26.5 percent reaching (LE 42.4 billion), respectively and also sheds light on the LE 67 billion government investments. Other aspects include the expected doubling of insurance beneficiaries from 1.5 million families to 3 million families, the allocation of 50 percent of the property tax proceeds to develop the slum areas and localities, and the launch of a special website for Citizen’s Budget to manage public suggestions or inquiries.
The Ministry of Finance will also hold a press conference to explain the various means of communication to be employed by the Ministry regarding future budgets.
