World Bank officials have commended economic reform policies in Egypt particularly in the fields of tax and customs reforms. At an international dialogue conference on global tax policies in Argentine, World Bank officials explained that the strong political will has committed all government ranks to achieve the planned targets. World Bank officials described the Egyptian reforms as a miracle and announced that several prestigious institutes including the universities of Harvard and Duke have offered to assist Egypt to expand its success in the fields of tax policies. Minister of Finance Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali had reviewed the fruits of reform at the conference, announcing that the number of tax reforms have increased in the wake of a new tax law in 2005. He added that four countries have requested Egyptian technical support to reform their tax laws including Indonesia, Pakistan, Kenya and Sudan. Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority Ashraf al Araby has also addressed the conference on the new taxation system that will be applied on small and medium enterprises.
