Finance Minister Hails Citizens Strong Response, Registering around 2.5 Million Property Units via the Real Estate Tax App and Creating 1.8 Million Accounts”
We are working hard to simplify and facilitate services through the app and enhance system capacity to accommodate the strong public response
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk thanked citizens for their strong response, noting that they have registered around 2.5 million property units via the Real Estate Tax App and created 1.8 million accounts so far.
“We are working hard to simplify and facilitate services through the app and enhance the system’s capacity to accommodate the strong public response,” Kouchouk explained.
The minister urged everyone to register on the app and take advantage of the new real estate tax facilitations and incentives.
“File your tax return directly through the app. You have until the end of December 2026 and can receive a 25% discount on the annual tax on residential units and 10% on non-residential units. There is also an additional 5% discount on the annual tax for those who make an advance payment of between EGP 200 and EGP 1,000, depending on the type of unit,” he pointed out.
Kouchouk added: “If your family’s private residence is valued at less than EGP 8 million, file your tax return and apply electronically for an exemption through the app.”
“You can settle disputes pending before appeal committees or courts until April 2, 2027, by paying 70% of the total tax due, with a waiver of late-payment charges,” Kouchouk said.
He stressed that the ministry is committed to the greatest possible flexibility in handling citizens’ requests, adding: “We want to start a new chapter.”
Ramy Youssef, Assistant Minister of Finance for Tax Policies, affirmed that work is underway to further develop the app “to ensure continuous improvement in service quality and meet users’ needs.”
He explained that the ministry is currently increasing the number and capacity of its technical support teams to assist citizens, facilitate their access to the new incentives and address any obstacles they may encounter.
Youssef also highlighted the ministry’s continued dialogue with representatives of the business community and its efforts to respond to their inquiries about the real estate tax facilitations.
“Communication and dialogue help clarify the picture and enable us to further develop and improve our services. We are open to adopting new ideas and initiatives,” he emphasized.
