Advisor to the Minister of Finance Ashraf Al Arabi has asserted that Egypt will eliminate gender stamp duties in accordance with international standards; a fact which will lead to limited dependence on gender stamp duties as a source of state revenue. So far, 24 stamp duty bases have been abolished. Among the bases already abolished are stamp duties on commercial bills such as cheques and other stamps issued by chambers of commerce and industry as well as syndicates. Ashraf Al Araby has explained that such duties have proved to be among the obstacles in the collection of taxes. (source: Al Ahrar)
