  Head of the general and sales tax authority Mahmoud Mohamed Aly has received commendation over directives to return to taxpayers amounts in excess of tax returns in efforts to build confidence between taxpayers and the tax authority particularly with regards to tax returns on real estate. Advisor to the Minister on taxation policies  Ashraf el Araby  has reiterated that the return of excess payments is based on auditing of submitted tax returns since the issuance of the new tax law a year ago.  Mr. el Araby has affirmed that the auditing has led to the setting up of a list of  taxpayers,  the value in excess of  amount of tax as well as taxpayers’ cheques for their due amounts.
