A new report by the Ministry of Finance has reiterated that major operations in the state budget in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2006/2007 have soared to 40.282 billion pounds compared to 24.629 billion pounds during the same period of last year while expenditures have respectively been 37.304 billion as opposed to 32.374 billion pounds. The report noted the large increase in revenues in view of an increase in the income tax base and the sales tax. (source: Al-Akhbar)
