Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kadjouk, affirmed that there is coordination and harmony among all pillars and reforms of economic policies to ensure the competitiveness of Egyptian economy, explaining that we have begun to reap the fruits of economic reform with strong indicators of economic and financial performance during the past ten months, and the Egyptian economy has become able to achieve gradual and continuous growth strongly supported by higher rates of investment.
"The Egyptian government adopts economic policies to empower the private sector and increase its contribution to economic activity. The contribution of the private sector to total investments increased to 60% during the period from July to December 2024," said Kouchouk, in a high-level ministerial session to strengthen Egypt-US investment and trade relations, during the "US-Egypt Policy Leaders Forum 2025" organized by the American Chamber of Commerce headed by Tarek Tawfik.
"We are working to manage the state's public finances with a strong balance between achieving fiscal discipline and pushing the economic activity forward," added Kouchouk.
The Minister of Finance stated that effective initiatives and programs were launched to support industry, agriculture, export and tourism to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
Kouchouk said that the social protection system is getting developed with more efficient and targeted programs for the unprivileged segments, pointing out that in the latest protection package, we focused on direct cash transfers, treatment of all critical cases, and increasing treatment allocations at the expense of the state.
The minister stressed that we recorded the highest rate of the first surplus of GDP by 3.1% during the period from July 2024 to April 2025, explaining that the debt rate of GDP fell despite high interest rates, and we aim to continue the strong downward path during the coming period, and we seek to create sufficient fiscal spaces to increase spending on health, education and social and economic development.
He explained that the first package of tax facilities is concerned with "building confidence, partnership and certainty" with the business community, and we will soon announce the positive results we have achieved, saying: "We are proud of the voluntary admission of thousands of new taxpayers to the tax system to benefit from tangible incentives, and we are very happy that a large number of people are going to close their old tax files with facilitated mechanisms, and we will provide similar facilities for real estate tax and the customs system to achieve more confidence, certainty and partnership with the business community."
