Ministers Ahmed Kouchouk (Finance), Amr Talaat (Communications and Information Technology), and Sherif Fathy (Tourism and Antiquities) affirmed the continued coordination and collaboration among the relevant ministries to promote Egypt’s rich civilization and document its magnificent heritage on the occasion of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The cooperation includes the issuance of commemorative gold and silver coins and postage stamps celebrating this unique cultural landmark, one of the most significant museums worldwide.
The ministers emphasized that these commemorative releases reflect Egypt’s commitment to preserving national identity, immortalizing historic milestones, and showcasing its unparalleled heritage and civilization to the world.
Minister Ahmed Kouchouk expressed profound pride in the creative craftsmanship of Egyptian designers and artisans who developed the commemorative coins of the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing them as refined works of art that capture the spirit and grandeur of the museum and its extraordinary treasures.
Minister Amr Talaat highlighted the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s dedication to documenting this historic moment through the issuance of special commemorative stamps marking the museum’s inauguration — a defining milestone in Egypt’s modern history. He noted that postage stamps are not merely artistic pieces, but cultural messengers that celebrate Egypt’s ancient civilization and reaffirm its leading role in preserving heritage while embracing modern technology for documentation and exhibition.
Minister Sherif Fathy explained that the commemorative releases reflect Egypt’s commitment to honoring major national events and strengthening the presence of culture, art, and heritage in public consciousness, underscoring the Grand Egyptian Museum’s global stature as a timeless symbol of Egyptian civilization.
The Treasury and Mint Authority has produced additional quantities of the commemorative coins to meet high domestic and international demand, underscoring the museum’s global prestige and the value of its unique collection. A new series of commemorative designs inspired by artifacts from the museum will also be launched as part of a comprehensive plan to revive Egyptian heritage symbols and promote cultural awareness.
The commemorative coin set includes six denominations: EGP 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100, each featuring artistic engravings inspired by the museum’s architectural and archaeological elements, including the Hanging Obelisk, the Grand Entrance, King Khufu’s Solar Boats, the statue of King Ramses II, and the Golden Mask of Tutankhamun. The coins were produced to the highest standards of quality and precision, crafted by specialized designers, engineers, and artisans, transforming each coin into a work of art that embodies both history and heritage.
